Daddy's Gonna Make You SorryTears were nearly streaming down the little girl's face.
"S-Stop it!" She tried shouting. The boys just laughed. She clenched her fists, determined not to cry in front of them... but it was getting to be too much. "Stop it!" She repeated, tears leaking now.
"Stop it!" A boy mocked. The others laughed.
"Stop it." A new voice said, not merely echoing the others but ringing out with a strong and fierce tone. The boys now looked nervous. The girl looked behind her. There was a man standing there, glaring at the boys with his large arms crossed over his chest.
"Abba!" she squeeked happily. She grabbed his leg tightly, burying her face into his soft jacket. He put a hand securely on the back of her head, comforting his little girl. He said a sharp word of warning to them. Now that she had back-up of her own, she braved a sharp warning of her own:
"Yah, go away- or my daddy's gonna make you sorry!"
DreamsOur shining blue earth
Is filled with countless desires.
Everyone has a dream, and aspiration;
Something they want with all their heart.
Some of us dream of saving lives,
Others, of more simple things,
Like having a family,
Or living life to the fullest.
Some dreams come true early on,
Others making appearance later in life.
Yet far too many dreams are abandoned,
Cast away into a land of broken hearts and childhood fantasies.
I'm just a girl with a dream,
Not unlike any other.
Perhaps I'll reach the stars,
But perhaps I'll fall back down to the harsh reality of our world.
I'll continue to do what I love.
Because I do it for myself,
And that will always be enough for me.
ApathyThe world is saturated with causes. Online petitions, political discussions, advocacy groups, charities, and pleas for help saturate the internet, media, and everyday life. It is impossible to get away from them. It seems that everyone has a laundry-list of special causes that they rate you by; you had better measure up to their level of passion or you're probably a terrible person. Sometimes these causes become the grounds for bullying as friends bicker and shun each other over a political opinion. It can be exhausting.
With all these causes out there, it is little surprise that I'm starting to see a backlash of apathy. Any discussion of a charity, a good cause, or a struggle can result in a shut-down. "I don't want to talk about it," one might say, "I don't have time for everyone else's problems." Another gets angry. "So what if I do or do not support your cause? Most people
True FriendYou you can't be real.
No one has stuck by me for so long.
There is no way you are physically here!
Go away! Please! Stop messing with my mind!
I know you're not really here I know
I know! When I open my eyes, you'll be gone just like the rest!
But I open them and you're still here,
smiling, and offering me a hand up.
"I'm here for you," you say.
The tears form in my stormy eyes
and roll down my dirty cheeks.
Is it really you??
Just to be sure, I stretch my hand out,
expecting you to crumble when my hand meets yours.
But no you're not fading away
You're really here!
Your firm grip it's proof!
You really are standing before me as a true friend
The LightDesiring to touch beauty,
disappointment strikes me through.
Your silhouette reeks of death,
as your kisses lack what's true.
So the horizon steals my gaze away.
Still searching for the one to come.
For in my heart you hold a place -
the light of the burning sun.
So I search as the lines break.
My heart aching for your sight.
I have no delight in death's true love.
The kiss of truth is my only plight.
StereotypesThe world is full of stereotypes.
Designed to keep us apart.
They create invisible borders.
Locking us in see through cages, like the deranged animals we are.
For if it wasnt for stereotypes.
We would have no reason to hate.
We could just be people.
We could try to get along.
But we can never just be people.
We are chavs and emos and moshers
All destined to despise one another.
And maybe even murder one another.
Just because people are different to us.
Because they hate what we like.
The invisible boundaries desperately need to be broken .
But, due to our shear naivetés, they never will.
We will forever judge.
And we will continue to shun others.
Who do not agree with us.
The madness will continue.
The wars, the hatred.
It will never end.
All because we are different.
All because we are stupid enough to believe we are better than each other.
We are all the same.
The only difference being that some p
